Goulds Water Technology to showcase AqWiFi at the 2016 NGWA Expo

New WiFi-connected remote monitoring app designed for residential applications

LAS VEGAS — Goulds Water Technology (GWT), a Xylem brand, will preview its new AqWiFi technology, a WiFi-connected remote monitoring app compatible with the GWT Aquavar SOLO 2 constant pressure system, that alerts homeowners and dealers of changes in operating conditions via smartphone, computer or tablet at the 2016 National Ground Water Association Expo (NGWA) Dec. 6 through 8 at the Las Vegas Convention Center.

Show attendees are invited to Booth 701 for demonstrations of AqWiFi to learn how to download and set up the app, and see how it monitors and reports changes in water pressure, output current, motor speed, input voltage and fault of the GWT Aquavar SOLO2 in real time.

“Receiving real-time status of their home’s Aquavar SOLO 2 ensures homeowners know that their constant pressure system is functioning properly or if there are any problems,” said Shukri Elmazi, product manager at Xylem Inc. “Whether homeowners are sitting in their living room or out running errands, AqWiFi provides the power of constant communication.”

GWT will showcase additional technologies for residential applications at the booth, including the GSP0511 Cast Iron Sump and Effluent Pump ½ HP Model, featuring a new premium silicon carbide/carbon seal, the fifth generation HYDROVAR intelligent pump controller and e-SV multistage pumps.

In addition to expanding its line of advanced technologies for residential applications, GWT added a new four-module course on Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs) to its industry-leading e-Learning program for water professionals.

The free course provides an introduction to VFDs and explores how they work through a virtual VFD system. It focuses on the role each component plays in maintaining constant water pressure, and the effect of motor speed on pump performance. The course also examines VFD system types and demonstrates how to properly select, size, start and troubleshoot a VFD system.

Inside the Xylem booth, GWT experts will be available to discuss the Goulds Professional Dealers Association (GPDA) loyalty program that helps professional pump installers grow their business and provide excellent service to homeowners by providing education, support and tools. Attendees also can learn more about the featured products:

  • GSP0511 Cast Iron Sump and Effluent Pump ½ HP Model — An extension of GWT’s GSP0311, this sump and effluent pump is engineered with a premium silicon carbide/carbon seal design that provides the same high-quality protection from sand and abrasive damage using half the energy. To ensure the pump doesn’t break down unexpectedly, its motor contains an automatic vertical float, manual float switch and built-in thermal overload protection. It features a cast-iron body, corrosion-resistant fasteners, oil-cooled motor and thermoplastic impeller and cover. It also contains a compact and portable unit that is specifically designed for basement draining, water transfer, dewatering and filtering effluent.
  • The fifth generation HYDROVAR – The newly launched intelligent pump controller, which features multimaster control, is capable of running systems with up to eight pumps while enabling each individual pump to take control of the system if one or more units or sensors are not active. This ensures reliable water pressure across residential, industrial and commercial applications, and helps end users attain cost and energy savings while achieving optimal system performance. The new drive can reduce the energy consumption of a pump by as much as 70 percent, and is easy to install and program.
  • The e-SV multistage pumps in a booster system – Pairing the e-SV multistage pump with the HYDROVAR enables the installer to adjust the speed in order to maintain constant pressure in the system. Available in 11 models, the e-SV stainless steel multistage pump series features hydraulics and an EISA-compliant motor for maximum efficiency in municipal, agricultural, HVAC, water treatment and light industry applications. The pump’s sleek design allows removal of the mechanical seal without having to detach the motor, reducing its repair time by up to 50 percent. The pump also features a reduced impeller axial thrust to ensure longer standard motor bearing life, and a hard material intermediate bush bearing to increase its ability to withstand heavy-duty applications.
